ABOUT

BASIC;

Name:
Morag MacDougal

Nicknames:
None

Age:
17

Born:
October 21

Nationality:
Scottish. All Scottish.

Gender:
Female

Blood:
Half-blood.

Place of Birth:
Glasgow, Scotland

Education:
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry (Ravenclaw House)

Sign:
Libra

Libra is the seventh sign of the zodiac and governs the kidneys, lower back, and buttocks. Positive traits include a rational, logical mind, a fine sense of aesthetics, diplomatic aplomb, good taste, charm, skill with words, intelligence, an innate sense of fairness and justice, and exceptional beauty. Negative characteristics include indecisiveness, excessive dependence on other people, conformist tendencies, manic depression, extravagance, and manipulation.

All Ravenclaws are intellectual, but Ravenclaw Libras have their heads in the clouds more than most (Pisces Ravenclaws may have them beat, but not by much). They are romantic and idealistic, and prefer to live in the world of pure theory rather than in the messy world of action. While social and pleasant, they are still quiet and shy, and rarely make the first move when in a group of people. In the classroom, they tend to wait to be called on, or raise their hands when they are sure that no one else knows the answer, but they do tend to be the teacher's pet on a fairly regular basis. It's hard to hate them for this, because they are so pleasant to everybody. Ravenclaw Libras are the most speculative (and indecisive) of all Libras, because they have the intellectual capacity to explore all ramifications of every action and reaction.

Affliations:
Ravenclaw House

MAGICAL;

Wand:
8" Maple with Unicorn Hair core

Strengths:
Wandwork. More specifically, Charms. It's her best subject and she's pretty damn good at it.

Weaknesses:
Well, she was horrible at History of Magic but she dropped it -- she was, and still is, bad at Potions, but squeaked her way into the NEWT level class. Herbology... bores her to tears, but she's still in it. Damn wanting to be a Healer.

Classes:
Charms, Transfiguration, Potions, DADA, Herbology, Arithmancy, Ancient Runes

Patronus:
Crane - Solitude, independence, messenger, communion, higher state of consciousness, wisdom, knowledge.

Animagus:
Eagle - Divine spirit, air, the sun, power in battle, protection from evil, clear vision, success, prosperity, wealth, intelligence, renewal, courage.

PHYSICAL;

Height:
5’9” tall. Yeah, she’s got legs that tend to go on forever. Lucky her.

Weight:
115 lbs.

Build:
Lucky for her, Morag’s naturally slim and slender, which fits perfectly with her tall frame. Honestly, she’s got the build of a model, but it’s not something that she’d ever been interested in doing.

Eyes:
Her eyes are blueish-grey in colour. Honestly, she’d much rather her eyes pick one colour or the other, but that’s not very likely to happen.

Hair:
Blonde, blonde, blonde. With hair that’s long, blonde, and curly, she looks every bit the typical ‘stupid blonde’ idea. Good thing she’s constantly able to prove people wrong, right?

Face & Complexion:
Depends on the time of year -- when it's warm out, she definitely spends quite a bit of her time outside. Summers also mean family trips, usually to beachy areas, so she gets pretty tanned. In the winter and fall, she confines herself to the indoors, since she hates the cold. Of course, she's a lot paler then. She also has a small beauty mark on her left cheek. It annoyed the hell out of her when she was younger, but she's grown used to it.

Eyesight:
20/20

Hearing:
Excellent, though a bit selective from time to time.

Left/Right/Ambi:
She was actually born left-handed, but her parents trained her to be a rightie. She can still do things with her left, however, so while she wasn’t born ambidextrous, she’s grown to be that way.

Disabilities/Handicaps:
None!

Physical Health:
Stable, though she is slightly on the weak side, since she’s not the most physically active person.

Defining Marks:

Dress Style:
Surprisingly, her dress style can vary from day to day, mood to mood. Sometimes, she’s all about being ‘classy’ and looking her best. Other days, she’s more focused on having fun with the things she wears and being much more relaxed (lots of jewelry, accessories, etc). Other times, it’s a bit more ‘trendy’ and following what’s hot and new. Whatever it is, however, she always looks neat and pulled together.

General Description:
Morag has the looks that most girls would kill to have, except for maybe the shape of her nose. Other than that, with long blonde hair, a slim and fit frame, and a decently sized chest, Morag was blessed with incredibly good looks that she tends to play up on occasion. Never to often, though – she’s stuck in her books, though she can get away with not really trying to look pretty and still manages to do so.

PSYCHOLOGY;

IQ:
Untested, but she’s pretty bright, especially for someone her age. Of course, this comes from hours dedicated to studying, observing, and learning in addition to her natural curiosity and need to know things. She’s also determined to keep on top of her marks and get the best ones she can. After all, she's studying to go to the wizarding equivalent of medical school, so she has to be well-informed.

Introvert/Extrovert:
A little of both. She’s not exactly the most outgoing or talkative person on the planet, but she’s certainly not anti-social. While she prefers to keep to her smaller, closer group of friends, she’s not against talking and being around others. In fact, she likes it a lot, from time to time.

Pessimist/Optimist:
Again, it's a mixture of both, but she leans much more heavily on the pessimistic side than she does the optimistic, whether she realizes it or not. Sure, she won't believe or accept some things, but it's not always because she expects the worst; her brain simply rejects a lot of ideas. She does, however, need to have a lot of things proven to her before she gets excited or looking forward to them. However, she does hold out faith and the belief that things will get better and aren't always terrible. It makes sense in her brain, honestly.

Phobias/Fears:
Because of an incident when she was around five years old that she never talks about, she’s absolutely petrified of snakes. She’s terrified of them and avoids them at all possible costs. Also, she has a fear of falling. Not heights or flying scare her, oh no. It’s the idea of falling from them. Also, being alone. She's dependent on those in her life and the idea of them leaving her is terrifying.

Mental Health:
She's a well-adjusted, stable girl. Sure, she has a few problems here and there, but nothing that gets in her way of a 'normal' life.

PERSONALITY;

Goals/Dreams:
After she leaves Hogwarts, she wants to enter the Healer program at St. Mungo’s. Its been a dream of hers for a while now, and she wants to see it through more than anything else. And, of course, she wants to have a family of her own someday, but she just has no idea when. One day at a time, after all.

Quirks/Habits:
She has a habit of playing with her hair, biting her lip when nervous/thinking, and fidgeting her hands about, seeing as she always needs to be doing something with them. Also, compliments send her into a flurry of stammering and red cheeks. Something else she's picked up; when she studies, she hums to herself, drumming her fingers along the book or the desk. It's not out of boredom, no... just doing more to occupy herself.

First Impression:
Quiet, with a nice smile.

Strengths:
analytical, intelligent, modest, practical, diligent, reliable

Weaknesses:
Fussy, self conscious, overly cautious at times, cynical, skeptical, doubtful, blind to reality at times

Likes:
Reading (of course), traveling, being outdoors, movies, being with family/friends

Dislikes:
unfairness, being too much swayed in one direction,

General Personality:
When someone first meets her, they might get the impression that she’s the quiet and shy sort – which on some levels. She’s the studious sort and keeps on top of her schoolwork as much as possible and reads lots of extra to keep ahead. Quite well-behaved, she’s never had detention or gotten into trouble with Professors. She’s a bit of a ‘model’ student in many ways, something she does pride herself on. She's practical and logical and obsessed with knowledge -- every bit the Ravenclaw.

However, around those she’s close to, she takes on a slightly different personality. She’s much more relaxed, outgoing, and playful with friends and family. She’s much sillier and easy-going, ready to make jokes and very quick to laugh. It doesn’t take very much to amuse or please her, so she’s constantly smiling and/or laughing.

She is a very emotional person. Very. She can go from laughing and joking one minute to crying uncontrollably the next with just a simple word or wrong look. Not because she's trying to gain sympathy – just because crying is a nervous habit that she honestly cannot help. However, the crying does not last long, and one joke cast to cheer her up will have her smiling and laughing once more. She is a very easy friend to have, as she will put forth at least 80% of the effort. She's the friend that will spend all day making soup for someone who is sick, or go miles out of her way and call in sick if a friend of hers is upset in anyway. She doesn't ever expect anyone to do the same, since she recognizes that most people don't care as deeply as she does and that it's too much to expect. She is happy enough just to be recognized as a good person.

History:
Morag was born the middle of three daughters to Araballa and Kenneth MacDougal in Glasgow, Scotland. What her family lacked in finances (they were never poor, but they were never exactly the richest of people), they made up for in other areas -- spending time with one another and teaching each other to be rich in other areas, such as knowledge, which from a young age, Morag absolutely ate up and devoured. While her older sister was off adventuring and her little sister stuck with their parents, Morag found herself spending much of her childhood at the family bookshop that was right down the street from the family home. Hours upon hours were spend hunting for books and reading and gaining as much information as she possibly could.

She was lucky enough to have a family she was always close to and could never ever complain about. The girls were enough alike that they got along, but the differences that they had kept them from killing one another. Her older sister was much more adventurous, much more daring, and much more bold. Sure, she was responsible, but she was the one likely to get into fights and roughhouse it with boys. Her younger sister was the girlie girl, the feminine one, and the one who was a total daddy's girl through and through. Morag? Morag managed to become a healthy blend of the two. She loves them dearly and wouldn't trade them for the world.

Her parents are the proud owners of the bookshop that Morag so frequented in her childhood and during the summers. It's nothing big or fancy, but with the money they had gotten from their wedding, the MacDougals opened the small and friendly shop and have managed to keep the business successful for years. Both attended Hogwarts in their youth -- both were halfbloods, so while Morag has pureblooded background and relatives, she's not clueless to the Muggle environment or culture, and has her feet in both doors, so to speak.

A year or so after her elder sister was sorted into Gryffindor at school, Morag, unsurprisingly, found herself sorted into Ravenclaw. Not only was she very into book smarts and getting top marks (not the the point many Ravenclaws are, though -- she aims to do well, but doesn't obsess), she's a practical sort of person, relying on things being logical and making sense. Ravenclaw was the perfect fit for her, though for a second, the Hat considered Slytherin for her -- she has an ambitious streak a mile long, and will stop at nothing to get the information or whatever it is that she wants.

School's been an interesting ride for her. Being in Ravenclaw, she's typically away from a lot of the action the castle has to offer. Slytherin and Gryffindor are good for that sort of thing, though she can't protest. She's among the people most like her and she loves her house. But, back on topic -- she's never been a part of much of the Hogwarts action. She's kept to herself and her housemates mostly, though she's friendly and willing to speak to any and all. It's just that the drama? Not needed in her life. Or so she kept telling herself for the first few years of school.

And then everything was turned upside down, flipped around, and it seemed as if the world came crashing down around her. At just sixteen years old, the unthinkable happened. Voldemort, the villain she'd heard and read s much about in the past, had done what nobody, save for a few, could have expected. He came back.

Initially, she was among the skeptics and those who didn't believe a word of it. She was, after all, a person of logic and reason. If things didn't logically make sense or could somehow be explained with facts she always tended to brush it off and not believe it. Being that she's a witch, there were exceptions, and even times she could let herself just believe. But in this case? She couldn't. She couldn't bring herself to do that because it scared her and hurt her way too much to believe that all the things she knew but never experienced could possibly be happening again.
